Judge Susan Crawford’s independent career path is both unique and characteristic of New England School of Law graduates. In 1981, Crawford was appointed Principal Deputy General Counsel of the United States Army. From there, she became General Counsel of the Army, Special Counsel to the Secretary of Defense, and Inspector General of the Department of Defense. After a 15-year appointment as judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, Crawford became the Convening Authority for Military Commissions, overseeing the trials of the detainees at Guantanamo Bay.
