Course Description
Coverage of opportunities that exist for lawyers as entrepreneurs and as counsel to entrepreneurs. The course will explore how to prepare for a life in business; how to construe the merits of a particular opportunity; how to structure compensation and work for a "piece of the action"; the type of business structure to employ; how to form and interact with a board of directors; how to raise money for business ventures; operational pitfalls; venture capital, hedge funds and private equity; going public; going global; how to buy and sell a business. The course presents a hands-on, practical approach to understanding business opportunities in the real world.
