"Preparing for the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition made us feel like focused, passionate, practicing attorneys. Researching and writing the brief, practicing in court, arguing at the competition before prominent lawyers and judges, and strategizing between rounds were all exhilarating and made all three of us better advocates. Moot court allows some students to reinforce the dream of being litigators and others to uncover hidden talents. I would encourage law students, especially students of color, to participate in moot court and mock trial competitions."

The Frederick Douglass Moot Court team placed third in the 2003-2004 northeast regional competition and qualified for the national competition. In the nationals, teammate Byron Knight ('05) won an award for Best Oral Advocate.
