The Center for Business Law at New England School of Law presents
New Bankruptcy Act: What we know, what we don't know

The Bankruptcy Act enacted in October 2005 introduced new issues, not only for debtors and creditors but also for bankruptcy lawyers. A year later, practitioners in the field are still experiencing a learning curve and sorting out the act's practical effects. Questions remain about outcomes of bankruptcy proceedings, how they impact debtors and creditors, and changes in how bankruptcy attorneys prepare and shepard filings.

New England School of Law's Center for Business Law sponsored a program on Nov. 15 to address these and other issues. Distinguished panelists tackled these questions from a variety of perspectives: the judiciary, debtor practitioners, consumer and landlord practitioners, lender practitioners, and U.S. trustees.

Panel I: Professional Responsibility Issues / Traps for the Unwary
Pane lII: Recent Legal Developments, Unsettled Issues, and Traps for the Unwary
Panel III: Case Administration in General and ADR in Bankruptcy
