Public Service Transcript Notation Preapproved Organizations

Below is a partial list of preapproved organizations for the Public Service Transcript Notation. Please note:

  • You are NOT limited to organizations on this list
  • Many other organizations likely are within the scope of the program
  • This list focuses on MA organizations—equivalent groups in other states are likely to be approved
  • This list is provided primarily to
    1. reduce the need for individual requests for preapproval; and
    2. provide examples of appropriate organizations
  • You are not required to obtain pre-approval, but are encouraged to do so if you have any question as to whether the work fits within the definition of MA Rule of Professional Conduct 6.1.
  • When requesting preapproval, be prepared to make the case as to why the work is within the scope of the Rule 6.1, and, where applicable, similar to the type of work done by one of the organizations below.
  • Organizations listed below are not necessarily willing and able to accept volunteers at any given moment—contact the organizations directly. Information on the organizations is available on their websites and in the Massachusetts Lawyers Diary and Handbook
