Professor Davalene Cooper

Before joining New England Law | Boston, Professor Davalene Cooper was a staff attorney at the Appalachian Research and Defense Fund of Kentucky, Inc., and an attorney fellow at the National Consumer Law Center. Her principal research interests include restorative justice, legal ethics, and professionalism. As part of her teaching of New England's Law and the Ethics of Lawyering course, Professor Cooper allows her students to earn extra credit by interviewing a practicing lawyer regarding his or her pro bono work, and submitting a report of the interview. Students therefore learn first-hand the possibilities involved with pro bono work, the reality that successful lawyers engage in such work, and their motivations for doing so.
