Marissa Aquila (Class of 2006)

Day Division

I have been involved in public interest activities and courses throughout my career at New England School of Law. During the summer after first year I was trained to be a direct-services volunteer with a local domestic violence shelter and service provider. The next fall I was enrolled in the Public Interest Law Clinic, where I was placed at the school's in-house clinic and I represented clients in civil cases under the student practice rule (S.J.C. Rule 3:03). I also and began a year long position with the Domestic Violence Institute at Boston Medical Center as an advocate/interviewer. Then I spent the summer after second year in the Housing Unit at Greater Boston Legal Services (Greater Boston Legal Services) where I represented domestic violence victims in eviction and administrative housing proceedings. As a 3L I enrolled in two additional clinics which allowed me to continue working part time at GBLS in both the Housing and Family units. After graduation I will spend one year as a law clerk in the MA Probate and Family Court.
