Jennifer Wetmore (Class of 2002)
As a first year, I became involved with the Public Interest Law Association (PILA) because of its focus on helping both law students committed to public interest and on public interest in the legal community at large. The following year, I became co-chair of the organization and planned the annual PILA auction that raises money for scholarships for students working in public interest jobs over the summer. That same year I also served as co-chair of the Women's Law Caucus where the focus was, obviously, on women's issues in the legal community. During the summer after my second year, I worked at the Department of Justice, Immigration Court as a summer law intern. Finally, during my last year, I enrolled in a clinic and received credit for working at the Political Asylum and Immigration Representation (PAIR) Project, a non-profit legal assistance for asylum seekers.
