Computer Services Staff in the Library:
Our support staff, pictured right, are located off the Main Computer Lab in the basement of the Law Library. There, students can get assistance with wireless or laptop problems; the Help Desk will also provide students with updated anti-virus protection.
Equipment in the Library
The library basement is the home of 2 video stations, and 2 combination DVD/video players;
2 microfiche/film readers; and 3 networked printers. The first floor has another networked printer.
Computer Labs & Equipment
- Workstations and Circulating Laptops:
- The library has 40 Windows XP workstations on two floors, and 4 Macintosh workstations in the basement. Seven of the PC's are in the Lexis lab in the basement, and seven are in the Westlaw lab on the first floor. The labs are occasionally scheduled for training classes; otherwise they available for general student use. In addition, 16 laptops circulate for two hour periods, for in-library use; students must leave a valid NESL ID and sign a laptop user policy agreement. Network jacks and wireless access points are available for laptop use on all 3 levels of the library. Both workstations and circulating laptops print to our networked laser printers.
- Software available on the PC's:
- The following software is available on our PC's: MS Office 2003 (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel); WordPerfect Office 12 (WP12, Quattro Pro, Presentation); Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2 (Default Browser); Firefox 1.0.4; Symantec Anti-Virus 10, Acrobat Reader 7, Quicktime Playe 6.4; Real Player 10; Windows Media Player 7; and Macromedia Shockwave Player 10.
- Macs: The 4 Macintosh computers are running on Operating System 10 with the following software: Mac Office, WP, Adobe, Norton Anti-Virus, I.E.,and Netscape.
- Laptop Loaner program
- The library has 16 laptops available for checkout at the circulation desk, to be used in the library for a maximum of 3 hours. The circulating laptops have the capability to print to our networked printers. Laptops are due back 1/2 hour before the library closes.
