Current students have priority at the Workstation. The CMC reserves the right to have a signup sheet for times during the busy periods.
Prearranged training sessions are routinely held in the Lexis and Westlaw labs. During these times, the labs are reserved. Check posted schedules for times and dates. The circulation desk has a sign-up sheet for those interested in attending these classes.
A note on data storage: Save files on the hard drives at your own risk. Periodically, the local drives on each computer are "cleaned out" to allow for smoother functioning and to preserve available memory. Always save to a floppy to protect your work.
All students are required to sign a Fair Use Agreement before accessing the Internet through any NESL server.
The student workstations are attached to network printers. Printing costs range from 5 to 10 cents per page. Copy cards can be obtained at a machine located in the basement. The machine accepts 1, 5, 10, & 20 dollar bills. Unfortunately, the CMC and library staff are unable to make change. Printing problems (paper jams, low toner, malfunctioning equipment, etc.) are handled by the CMC staff. Please ask for assistance.
Food and beverages are prohibited in the CMC labs. This includes beverages in spill-proof cups. Vending machines, a refrigerator, two microwave ovens, and dining accommodations are located in the third floor Student Lounge.
CMC personnel are available to assist students, faculty, alumni, and staff with computer problems and questions. The CMC staff is also responsible for audio-visual set-ups in classroom settings. This requires the timely arrangement and coordination of audio-visual requests. These requests take priority over other matters related to the running of the CMC and the assistance of students. CMC personnel will do everything possible to attend to a variety of requests and questions in a timely manner.
It is expected of all members of the NESL community to maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning. Use of the school's computers or network is for academic use only. Users may not engage in disruptive or illegal activities. This includes refraining from displaying violent, harasssing, or sexually explicit materials, as stated in the Internet Use Agreement signed by students during First Year Orientation.
Users of the computer labs are advised to not leave personal items and valuables unattended.
Thefts or lost items should be brought to the attention of the Security Office, located in the first floor lobby.
