CSO Student Information

Welcome to the Career Services Office's student web page.  The Career Services Office (CSO) is committed to helping New England School of Law students achieve their career goals during law school and beyond.

The Career Services staff provides the following services to all students:

Personalized Career Counseling:

Make an appointment for personalized career counseling with an experienced career counselor.  Career counseling can help you to plan effectively for your future as an attorney.

As per the NALP Principles and Standards for Law Placement and Recruitment Activities, V(D), first-semester, first-year law students are not eligible to receive career services until November 1st of their first year.

Resume and Cover Letter Review Service:

E-mail your resume and cover letter to cso@admin.nesl.edu.  We will review it for spelling, content, grammar, and legal formatting.

Mock Interview Service:

Schedule a one-on-one mock interview with a CSO career counselor before your real interview.

Job Postings and Online Recruitment:

The Recruitment and Programming Center (RPC) is the central, password-protected online system where students can access job postings, on- and off-campus recruitment programs, and job fair information .  To access the Recruitment and Programming Center, you will need your Jenzabar ID# and a password.  If you do not have a password, please call the CSO at 617-422-7229 to request one.

CSO Programs and Workshops:

CSO programs and workshops are designed to supplement your legal education with practical information from attorneys who are working in the field.  This is also a great way to build your professional network with practicing attorneys.  To RSVP for a program, log onto the Recruitment and Programming Center (RPC).

Weekly “FYI” Newsletter:

The weekly “FYI from the CSO” newsletter contains information about employers conducting on-campus interviews and announcements of upcoming career services programs and features a special job of the week.  FYI’s are available on the bulletin board on the 3rd floor of Stuart Street, at Lucy Table (see below), and online.

Networking with New England School of Law Alumni:

Through the Recruitment and Programming Center (RPC), you can access 800+ New England School of Law alumni who have volunteered to provide career advice to current New England students.  You can search the online database of alumni by logging on to RPC and clicking on the "networking" tab.

Lucy Table Hours:

For your convenience, the CSO staff holds regular open counseling hours in the Stuart Street lobby.  Feel free to stop by with your questions.

Hours beginning September 4th:

  • Monday, 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

CSO’s Reciprocity Program:

If you are searching for jobs outside of Massachusetts, you can request "reciprocity" through the CSO.  This will allow you to search for jobs through a law school in another state.

CSO Resources:

If you are experiencing difficulty finding employment, the CSO is here to help.  We have access to printed and online resources that are designed to help you find employment.  Come and view our reference library of books, binders, directories, and files about individual practice areas, employers, fellowships, summer programs, and more.

We hope that you will take great pride, as we do, in representing New England School of Law in the local and national legal communities as a student and a future graduate.
