Courses Taught
@ New England Law | Boston
- In 2009, Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts, Jr., taught “The United States Supreme Court in Historical Perspective” in New England Law’s summer program in Galway, Ireland. This two-week course was preceded by a one-week prerequisite, “How the U.S. Supreme Court Works: An Introduction,” taught by Professor Friedman.
- Both professors engage in pro bono work in the regional legal community. In addition to his contributions on behalf of Massachusetts Appleseed, Professor Friedman has consulted with the Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts about various state constitutional law issues.
- Professor Hansen’s volunteer work includes assisting students working with veterans at the Veterans Homeless Shelter in Boston. He has also co-authored amicus briefs on behalf of two detainees who were convicted under the military commissions process. The briefs maintain that “Military Support for Terrorism” is not an offense under the law of war. (al Bahlul brief)
