Professor Hamilton teaches Civil Procedure, Evidence, Legal History, and The Law and Ethics of Lawyering. He served as associate dean from 1988 to 2004. As director of the law school's clinical programs from 1981 to 1988, he created six of the ten clinical courses taught during that period. Before joining the New England Law faculty, he worked at Cambridge and Somerville Legal Services, Inc., where he was a staff attorney and chief counsel. He was also a lecturer at Harvard Law School, where he served as acting director of clinical programs. In 2008 he was appointed by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court to the Executive Committee of the Advisory Committee on Massachusetts Evidence Law.
