Law Library Research Certification
Certification classes are open to 2nd and 3rd year students. These classes assume first year training in legal research. These classes are not part of the first year LRW program. Sign up for first year LRW classes in preparation for researching the memo will be coming soon!
Do you need a refresher on practical legal research skills? Are you wondering where to begin with a research project? Do you want training on a particular area of legal research? Are you doing legal work and want to impress your employer with your phenomenal research abilities?
The library is offering 1 hour classes on various legal research topics including:

- Secondary Sources
- Case Law Research
- Shepard's & KeyCite
- Advanced Westlaw & Lexis
- Statutes
- Administrative Law
- Tax Law
- Massachusetts Legal Research
- Research on a Budget

These classes will be offered several times this semester. Take as many or few classes as you want! Registration is on our TWEN site under Law Library Research Certification. To complete the library research skills certification program, take any 5 of the 8 classes offered and complete an out-of-class assignment for each one. Once you have taken 5 classes, we will give you a certificate saying that you have completed the library training.
If you cannot attend certain classes, we will try to offer them at other times in the future. So you will be able to take any classes you miss at a later date. We will keep track of all classes that you have already taken.
