Inter-Library Loans
(New England Law faculty, staff, & students only)
Materials not in our collection (if the library does not own the title or it is missing) may be borrowed from other libraries. Current students, faculty and staff can order an interlibrary loan directly from WorldCat or by filling out a form below. Paper request forms are also at the Information Desk. We will do our best to find that material for you.
Worldcat: Search for the Resource, ILL from record retrieved.
-
Worldcat - Select Worldcat as the database, then "Advanced Search" for best results. You will be able to tell from the record if the book or journal title is in our library. If it is not, the record will have a link to "borrow this item from another library".
Journal Locator: Avoid ILL altogether when you know an article's citation:
- Journal Locator: Search for online source here before ordering it via ILL - If you know the cite you need, before you submit an ILL request look in our Journal Locator, Serials Solution (E-journals from the library sidebar): Click on the first letter of the journal name and scan the results for it. Following that link will usually take you to a search screen where you can put in other information known, i.e. author, article title, or volume/page/year. If you are not physically in the library, you may need to have the barcode from your New England Law ID available to logon.
ILL Web Forms: when you know the book or article you need
Loans from local libraries:
New England Law Library cooperates with the inter-library loans departments of other local academic libraries.
New England Law | Boston is a member of the New England Law Library Consortium and the Boston Regional Library Network which gives the library expedited inter-library loan service. If you require access to materials which are in the library collection but checked out to another patron, you may request a hold be placed for the title.
Request that the Law Library Purchase a Book or Journal:
New England Law Library welcomes suggestions for materials which support the school's teaching, study, and research. Before submitting this form, please check New England Law's online catalog, PORTIA, to see if we already own - or have ordered - this title. Complete as much of the Purchase Request form as possible.
