The Law Library at New England Law | Boston

The New England Law | Boston Law Library is an essential and integral component in the educational life of the school.  It supports the curriculum and fosters an atmosphere conducive for learning and research that enhances the educational endeavors of faculty, students, staff, and alumni.

An excellent collection includes all standard legal research and reference materials, most of which is on open shelving for easy access.  Research resources are available in printed form, electronically, and on microform, and a combination of collaboration rooms, computer labs, quiet study spaces, and a special collection for academic support are available.

The knowledgeable and service-oriented staff provides instruction and assistance in both online and traditional methods of research.  Whether students are abroad or in Massachusetts, law library reference librarians are easy to contact via chat or e-mail.

The online catalog, PORTIA, links to an extensive print collection, electronic databases, and e-books.  Access to 25 other law school libraries is provided via the New England Law Library Consortium (NELLCO).  (Please review policies for visiting NELLCO and other local law libraries.)

For assistance, please ask at the information desk or dial (617) 422-7299.  Librarians happily provide an array of services to students, including individual and group training.  Reference librarians, all of whom possess a J.D., M.L.S., or both, are available Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday until 10:00 p.m.; Wednesday until 9:00 p.m., and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday until 5:00 p.m.  Live chat or IM reference and e-mail reference services are offered via Ask Reference.
