Resources for Tech Checks
The following online databases are valuable in tracking down citations to publications for cite checking. Please check our online catalog, Portia, first to make sure the material you are looking for is not in the library. For help in using any of the resources listed here, see a reference librarian.

Resources for books and articles
- WorldCat
- WorldCat, a database on FirstSearch, provides bibliographic information on all books cataloged in libraries nationwide. It also provides information on which libraries own particular materials.
- Index to Legal Periodicals
- Wilson's Index to Legal Periodicals on the web, with a link to our holdings information, and a link to online fulltext articles where they are available on the web (does not include Westlaw or Lexis)
Resources for U.S. Government materials
- Lexis Nexis Congressional Index
- The best resource available for legislative history documents from 1970 to the present. House and Senate documents, reports, hearings, etc. searchable by bill or public law number.
- Government Printing Office
- Free online access to official versions of government documents including The Federal Register, CFR, Congressional Record, House and Senate documents (including bills, reports, hearings. You can also click on the words "house" or "senate" to be brought to the official web page.), and the U.S.Code
- Index of Federal Agencies
- An index of federal agencies with links to the official web pages.
Resources for international materials
- United Nations Documents
- The catalog of the Dag Hammarskjöld Library at the U.N. - bibliographic information for official U.N. documents, with links to full text online where available.
- Europa
- The official server for the European Union, including links to pages of the Official Journal, legislation, and treaties.
- Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals
- An index to legal periodicals dealing with international law, or to legal periodicals published in other countries.
