Friends of CASA, Inc.

Friends of CASA, Inc., is a non-profit organization founded in 1991, which provides funding and material support for Court Appointed Special Advocates, or CASAs, working in the Suffolk County Juvenile Court and for the children they serve. The CASA program was established in Boston in 1982 by Judge Francis Poitrast, then the highest ranking judge in Suffolk County Juvenile Court. CASAs, who are trained community volunteers coming from a variety of backgrounds, have advocated for a safe and permanent home on behalf of thousands of children in Boston's foster care system. Over 500 similar programs exist in the 50 states. The Boston CASA website is www.bostoncasa.org. Interested volunteers at New England School of Law may contact Prof. Barbara Plumeri, Vice President of CASA, Inc., at bplumeri@faculty.nesl.edu.
