Honors and Awards
New England Law | Boston recognizes students' achievements by granting honors and awards during the academic year and to graduating seniors at commencement.
Annual awards
A student whose semester grade-point average is 3.0 or above at the end of any semester is named to the Dean's List. To be eligible, a day division student must have been enrolled in a minimum of 10 graded credits, and an evening division or Special Part-time student must have been enrolled in a minimum of 8 graded credits.
Earned by students who rank in the top 10 percent of their class in a given year (not cumulative), with a minimum of 12 graded credits for day division students and 9 graded credits for evening or Special Part-time students.
Awarded automatically (not by application) to the highest ranking students (based on the previous year's average) in the day and evening divisions, with a minimum of 12 graded credits for day division students and 9 graded credits for evening division students. Sponsored by the Center for Computer-Assisted Legal Instruction to recognize the highest ranked students in specific courses. Winners receive personalized award certificates.
Commencement Honors and Awards
Students who complete the degree requirements and whose scholastic achievement is judged outstanding may be recommended for a degree granted cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude.
Presented at commencement to the top graduates in the day and evening divisions, this award is given in memory of the founder and first dean of the law school.
Presented at commencement to the day and evening division graduates who best exemplify a combination of scholarly achievement and service to the institution, this award is given in memory of an honored trustee of the law school.
This award is presented to one student in each division in recognition of service to the law school. It is given in memory of the former president of the law school, who was a 1928 graduate.
Presented to a student selected by the dean for having made a unique contribution to the law school.
Awarded to students who have demonstrated significant dedication and service to the law school.
This book award recognizes the student who has shown the greatest promise of outstanding contributions to public service. It is given in memory of a former dean.
(Formally called the West Group Outstanding Scholastic Achievement Award)
Presented to four students in recognition of overall scholastic accomplishment.
