Civil Litigation Pathway

Find your pathway!

Civil litigation involves representing parties in disputes in state and federal court, in administrative tribunals and, increasingly, in arbitration and mediation. The field of “civil litigation” includes many different areas of the law and many different practice contexts, from solo practice, to large firm corporate and commercial litigation, to government practice on behalf of agencies. A civil litigator may be an expert in a specialized area of the law like employment law, securities regulation, real estate law, or medical malpractice. This pathway lists courses that would be useful in a wide range of civil practice. For students interested in litigation in a particular specialty area, the pathway leaves room for additional courses in that area.
