Helpful Info - Local Gyms

BSC

Boston Sports Clubs have several locations throughout the city.  Initiation is waived for NESL students and monthly fees depend on which program you select for your membership.  If you are interested in joining or have any questions, please call Lauren Morgenstern at 617-536-1247.  You can also check out what BSC has to offer at www.bostonsportsclubs.com

BYMCU Athletic Club

BYMCU is a newer facility located at 48 Boylston Street (just past the corner of Boylston and Tremont).  NESL students get their first month free at BYMCU.  It's $49 to join and $29 per month.  For more information, please call Scott or Member Services at 617-482-1122.

YMCA

Student discounts are available for any of the YMCA gyms (approximately $30/month; waive joining fee).  All have full facilities- pools, b-ball & racquet courts, training machines & free weights, plus aerobics, yoga and other group programs.  For YMCA discount program, take your financial aid award letter and student I.D.

Healthworks

Healthworks is a women-only gym.  The closest facility is located in Copley Square.  Healthworks offers a variety of aerobic classes and has a cafe, a full service day spa, and a pilates studio.  Initiation fees changes periodically when specials are offered.  Monthly rates range from $62-$97.  Students who pay the discounted monthly rate of $62 will have a time restricted membership (can’t workout during peak hours).  You can check out what Healthworks has to offer at www.healthworksfitness.com

Alternatives

There are casual NESL groups that organize touch football games and softball on The Boston Common, where there are also tennis courts.  In the meantime, use the stairs- it's the cheapest workout and the fastest way to get to class.

Your 2L, 3L and 4LE pals advise:  Exercise is a good stress reliever and will keep the donut damages to a minimum.  Note:  do as we say, not as we do...
