Laura Hennessey is an Associate at Fitch Law Partners in Boston, MA. Hennessey's practice focuses on civil litigation, including issues of consumer protection, trade secret misappropriation, and general commercial litigation. Before joining Fitch, she clerked for Judge Rya W. Zobel on the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts. Right after graduating from law school, Hennessey also gained experience clerking for then-Chief Justice Barbara Madsen of the Washington State Supreme Court. She also practiced law at a Seattle law firm, Perkins Coie LLP, for four years before moving back home to the Boston area.
Hennessey describes a bet-the-company trade secret misappropriation case that she worked on in her first two years of practice at Perkins Coie LLP as one of the most influential moments in her career thus far. She describes getting to see the progression of the case from the preliminary injunction stage through the battles of discovery and into the weeds of trial preparation before the case ultimately settled one day before jury selection, and credits that experience with giving her an amazing introduction to civil litigation.
