Judge Limon retired from the Suffolk County Juvenile Court at the constitutionally-required age of 70 in 2016 after serving there for 22 years. He then was appointed as a Statutory Recall Judge in the Suffolk and Essex County Juvenile Courts until finally retiring in 2020. Prior to his appointment to the Juvenile Court, Limon served as a defense attorney at the Massachusetts Defenders Committee where, among other things, he helped establish a model juvenile defense program. As an Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division, he prosecuted a number of the first criminal cases under the newly-enacted Massachusetts Civil Rights Act of 1979, and then selected and successfully prosecuted the first case under the civil provisions of that important statute.

In 1982 Limon joined newly-elected Middlesex County District Attorney Scott Harshbarger as the Deputy Chief of the Trial Bureau, and 8 years later rejoined newly-elected Harshbarger in the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office as Chief Legal Counsel to the Attorney General. Limon was a member of the Supreme Judicial Court’s Advisory Committee on Massachusetts Evidence Law, which annually updates and publishes the Massachusetts Guide to Evidence, and served as the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Court’s Mental Health Legal Advisors Committee. He also was a Trustee of the Flaschner Judicial Institute, which produces educational programs and guidebooks for Massachusetts judges, and continues to serve there as a Trustee Emeritus. Limon has taught and was a guest speaker at several New England law schools and organizations, and was also an editor of the Massachusetts Juvenile Court Benchbook.
