Visiting Professor of Law Gary Monserud taught at New England Law for thirty-four years before retiring in 2021. Prior to his retirement, he taught contracts and commercial law courses, as well as an education & the law seminar. Professor Monserud returned to New England Law to teach contracts in the Fall of 2025, delighted to rejoin our community.
Following law school, Professor Monserud served as a law clerk to the Honorable Andrew W. Bogue of the U.S. District Court for the District of South Dakota. After his clerkship ended, he joined a practice in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he specialized in contract and commercial litigation for eight years. He has written extensively on sales law, the law of suretyship, and the law pertaining to special education. He also served as a visiting professor at the University of Bucharest School of Law in Romania and at Vermont Law School.
