Program Overview

With challenging coursework, specialized law clinics, and ample hands-on experience, our full-time JD
program can empower you to launch your legal career in just three years. This program allows you to:

  • Take electives during your second year—there are more than 100 to choose from—so you
    can pursue your legal passion with your own unique path of study.
  • Put what you learn into practice and build your résumé with a clinic or externship after your
    first year.

Students who need to take the required Legal Research and Writing III course may take seven to 10 credits of electives in the spring term; otherwise, they can take nine to 12 credits of electives. See the Advanced Legal Writing Requirement for details.

To graduate, you’re required to complete the Advanced Legal Writing Requirement or another experience listed in the Advanced Legal Writing Requirement Table. (currently being developed)

You’re required to take one or more experiential course(s) totaling at least six credit hours from the approved list of clinical, simulation, and practice courses.

These approved courses help you to develop legal practice skills through active participation in real or simulated law practice experiences.

We strongly recommend that at least one of these courses be a clinical, and you may satisfy all six credit hours in clinical courses.

The 2025–2026 tuition costs and fees for the full-time JD program are:

  • 12–15 credits: $31,448 per semester (annually: $62,896)
  • Cost per additional credit: $2,621

  • Evening Part-time JD Program

    Earn your law degree in four years while working full-time. The evening part-time JD has the same requirements—and same faculty—as our full-time program, so you get the same outstanding academic experience and hands-on opportunities.

  • Day Part-time JD Program

    One of the country’s few part-time law programs available during the day offers the more traditional JD experience on an extended timeline. With easy access to daytime events, many clinical opportunities—and extra flexibility—you can earn your JD in four years.

  • Flexible JD Program
