With challenging coursework, specialized law clinics, and ample hands-on experience, our full-time JD
program can empower you to launch your legal career in just three years. This program allows you to:

• Take electives during your second year—there are more than 100 to choose from—so you
  can pursue your legal passion with your own unique path of study.
• Put what you learn into practice and build your résumé with a clinic or externship after your
  first year.

Students who need to take the required Legal Research and Writing III course may take seven to 10 credits of electives in the spring term; otherwise, they can take nine to 12 credits of electives. See the Advanced Legal Writing Requirement for details.

To graduate, you’re required to complete the Advanced Legal Writing Requirement or another experience listed in the Advanced Legal Writing Requirement Table. (currently being developed)

You’re required to take one or more experiential course(s) totaling at least six credit hours from the approved list of clinical, simulation, and practice courses.

These approved courses help you to develop legal practice skills through active participation in real or simulated law practice experiences.

We strongly recommend that at least one of these courses be a clinical, and you may satisfy all six credit hours in clinical courses.

Ideal for professionals looking to earn their law degree while working full-time, the part-time evening
JD program has the same requirements—and same faculty— as the full-time option, so you’ll have
the same outstanding academic experience and hands-on opportunities, while keeping your day job.
With this program, you can:

• Earn your JD in four years.
• After the first two years, you can take evening program courses on Mondays, Wednesdays,
  and Thursdays (and sometimes Tuesdays) between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Many evening
  students also choose to register for courses held between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. No classes are
  held on Friday night.
• Take electives during your second year—there are more than 100 to choose from—so you
  can pursue your legal passion with your own unique path of study.
• Put what you learn into practice and build your résumé with a clinic or externship after your
  second year. We work with each student to ensure clinical placements accommodate
  individual needs.

Although the full-time and evening part-time programs are academically consistent, the
experience of evening students is distinct:

• Evening law school students are often older than their daytime counterparts; they may
  have families, and many already have professional careers. These commonalities
  generate camaraderie and friendship.
• For the first two years, students take nearly all their courses with the same classmates,
  so personal bonds develop that often result in carpooling, weekend study sessions, and
  other practical assistance.
• Professors maintain flexible office hours to accommodate students’ schedules.

If you’re looking for extra flexibility in your law school education, the unique Flexible JD Degree
Program could be right for you. Ideally suited for parents and primary caregivers, executives with
limited availability, working professionals, and others with complicated schedules, this program
upholds our founding commitment to expanding access to the legal profession. With it, you can:

• Earn your JD in up to six years.
• Work one-on-one with an advisor to tailor your course schedule to your specific needs.
• Choose from more than 100 electives so you can pursue your legal passion with your own
  unique path of study.
• Put what you learn into practice and build your résumé with a clinic or externship. We work
  with each student to ensure clinical placements accommodate individual needs.

You will have the same degree requirements as our traditional full-time students, so you will receive
the same innovative and practice-focused education. You’ll work one-on-one with a faculty adviser to
tailor your course schedule to your specific needs.

You’re required to take one or more experiential course(s) totaling at least six credit hours from the approved list of clinical, simulation, and practice courses.

These approved courses help you develop legal practice skills through active participation in real or simulated law practice experiences.

When completing your application:

• Select Special Part-time Program
• Provide a statement explaining your need to enter the Flexible JD Program
• Submit it early; this program is highly selective

Students in good standing at other accredited law schools may be considered for transfer into the
program as well.

If you’re a lawyer or barrister educated outside the U.S., the LLM degree enables you to gain the skills
and credentials you need to take the bar exam in the U.S. and strengthen your career prospects. This
full-time program:

• Comprises two consecutive semesters (fall and spring) and begins in August.
• Offers you a choice of more than 100 courses, including Constitutional Law, Criminal
  Law, and Ethics of Lawyering, and the opportunity to specialize in more than a dozen in-
  demand legal areas.
• Qualifies for a one-time, one-year visa extension for practical training that permits you to
  work in the U.S. legal sector, as well as increased eligibility to sit for certain U.S. bar
  examinations.

To earn your LLM, you’ll need:

• 24 credit hours (approximately 10 courses)
• 2.2 minimum grade point average
• Course and writing requirements: Constitutional Law, Law and Ethics of Lawyering,
  Substantial Writing Requirement (may be satisfied by the completion of a seminar or
  Legal Research and Writing I, II, or III)

This comprehensive program provides the support you need to succeed. It:

• Begins with an orientation on American legal education and culture to help students
  adjust to living and learning in the U.S.
• Includes enrollment in our Academic Excellence course for first-year JD students; this
  course focuses on legal analysis skills and provides students with feedback on practice
  U.S. law school exams.

Satisfying any visa or U.S. government entry requirements is your responsibility. However, once
you’re accepted into New England Law and have submitted your required deposits, we will assist
