Professional Background

Prior to joining New England Law Boston, Professor LaVigne’s legal practice was focused on legal ethics, administrative law, and litigation. She was also an adjunct professor at New England Law Boston and Western New England University School of Law.

Most recently, Professor LaVigne was an Assistant Bar Counsel for the Massachusetts Office of Bar Counsel of the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers where she investigated and prosecuted complaints against Massachusetts attorneys for violations of ethical rules, advised attorneys on ethical issues, and conducted various continuing legal education programs for lawyers. Among other topics, Professor LaVigne frequently advised lawyers on issues relating to the role of technology in law practice. Professor LaVigne was previously an administrative hearing officer for the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities where she presided over administrative adjudicatory hearings and provided counsel on issues relating to administrative law and utility law. After law school, Professor LaVigne was an associate at Choate, Hall, & Stewart, LLP where she worked on matters relating to government enforcement, general commercial litigation, and electronic discovery.
