Assistant Professor of Law
Professional Background
Professor Katz’s research and writing interests focus on constitutional law and civil procedure. He speaks and writes about the separation of powers and the particular practices and powers of the federal courts. Prior to entering academia, Professor Katz practiced law in the Appellate and Supreme Court Practice Group at Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, DC.
Beyond practice, Professor Katz has served as a law clerk for the Honorable Kevin C. Newsom on the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and the Honorable Rudolph Contreras on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia. Prior to law school, Professor Katz served as a paratrooper in the Israel Defense Forces.
