Professional Background
Emily Amara Gordon is the Founder and Principal Attorney at Amara Law, LLC. Emily represents clients in family-based immigration cases, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) cases, and Massachusetts criminal defense cases.
Emily is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Boston Magazine has named her a Top Lawyer in Immigration Law for two years.
In 2024, Emily received an American Bar Association (ABA) Presidential Appointment to serve as a Member of the ABA Commission on Immigration. Emily is also a member of the ABA Judicial Ethics and Professionalism Committee. She has served on the ABA Law Practice Division since 2022 and currently sits on the Law Practice Division Council.
Emily has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) since 2012, served on the AILA National Innovation & Technology Committee from 2021-2024, and the Product Ideation Subcommittee from 2022-2024.
After running her tech-forward law practice for ten years, Emily launched a consulting business, Amara Innovation, where she helps lawyers implement innovative solutions to future-proof their law firms and build a positive and productive law firm culture.
Emily has spoken about immigration law, legal technology, the future of law, innovation, and client and firm communications at ABA TECHSHOW, ABA Lawyer Mastermind Series, ABA Women of Legal Tech, ABA Law Practice CLEs, Virginia State Bar Tech Show, and the AILA Annual Conference.
Emily graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Maryland with a B.A. in Spanish Language & Literature, a minor in French Studies, and a citation in the CIVICUS program. Emily holds a J.D. from New England Law | Boston where she was a Dean’s Merit Scholarship recipient.
