Professional Background

After graduating from Northeastern, Alexandra August began working for the Mental Health Litigation Division in Brockton, primarily representing men who have been referred to Bridgewater State Hospital for evaluation and commitment. Her representation has expanded to include respondents in commitments based on eating disorders and forced nutrition in penal settings, as well as defendants in criminal cases with overlapping mental health concerns. Over the past few years, Alexandra has worked on developing and implementing a revitalized internship program in the Brockton Mental Health Litigation Division that allows interns to represent their own clients, and is excited to continue to spread access to and knowledge of mental health law to students at New England Law School.
